Description FOR BEST CONSIDERATION APPLY BY: SEPTEMBER 12, 2025 Definition : Plan and implement training for the new and existing communication employees within the E-911 center. Schedules and coordinates training activities to ensure the attainment and maintenance of required certification by staff members. Trains employees in procedures for dispatching, radio communications, notification of emergency personnel, first responder instructions, operations of communication equipment, documentation of calls, and related tasks. Monitors/evaluates performance of employees and presents findings to the Director for any necessary action(s). Maintains training records.

- Coordinates all training for MCMDA personnel.
- Evaluates and prepares reports on the performance of trainees and trainers.
- Coordinates the communications training program including basic academy courses, the communication training officer program, continued professional training classes, career development courses, and a training records management system.
- Coordinates job fairs and community outreach programs as instructed.
- Develops and schedules in-house training to ensure all dispatch personnel receive required continuing education credits as required by state law.
- Maintains records of all staff training to ensure no required certifications or licenses expire.
- Develop and deliver orientation class for new trainees.
- Works with DFA to obtain training approvals and initiates reimbursement(s) for completed training(s). Reports to DFA regarding state training requirements.
- Assists the Deputy Director and Director with various projects as needed.
- Attends seminars, workshops, and training/professional development courses.
- Conducts performance evaluations for trainees and trainers to ensure consistency.
- Works with in-house trainers to ensure quality control.
- Ability to communicate and educate the public about dispatch, the services provided, and the information needed when calling 911.
- Assumes duties of dispatch when necessary.
Minimum Qualifications: - High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Three (3) years of experience as a Telecommunicator with a public safety communications facility.
Preferred Qualifications: - Two years of experience in a training or educational development capacity in a public safety communications facility.
- Experience working in a local government environment.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: - Accurate typing minimum of 35 wpm. Working knowledge of computers and electronic data processing; working knowledge of modern office practices and procedures; working knowledge of street locations and geography of the areas served.
- Skill in operation of the listed tools and equipment. Skill in interpersonal communications, as applied to interaction with co-workers, supervisors, the agencies served by MCMDA, and the public.
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; ability to effectively deal with the public. Good diplomacy and good decision-making skills. Accuracy in work performed and the ability to follow oral and written instructions and guidelines. Perform tactfully and proficiently under stress.
- Ability to present information with clear and understandable telephone and radio voice. Must be knowledgeable in Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system. Must have knowledge of E-911 and Public Safety Dispatch systems, operations, and policies and procedures.
- Must have the knowledge, skills, and practice necessary to coordinate the entire agency training program.
Supervisory Controls: The incumbent performs under the administrative supervision of the MCMDA Director.
Working Conditions :Work is performed in an office setting. Work schedule may include irregular hours. Travel may be required.
Other Requirements: The incumbent of this position must comply with the established safety guidelines of the County.
Certificates and Licenses : Must have or be able to obtain a Driver's License; must be insurable for liability purposes Must possess a New Mexico DPS Basic Dispatch Certificate. Must possess CPR, NCIC, and EMD certifications. Certified Training Officer or the ability to obtain certification within one (1) year of hire.
