DIRECTOR OF MUSIC
Job Locations: 178, Holy Redeemer, Vancouver, WA and 056, St. Thomas Aquinas, Camas, WA
Position Type: Full Time - Salary (30 hours/week)
Compensation Range $32,151 - $42,603 (Depending on experience and qualifications.)
Description
We are hiring a music director for the two parishes and one mission that comprise Parish Family 46, or Columbia River Catholic. These three communities are Holy Redeemer Parish, Vancouver WA, St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, Camas WA, Our Lady Star of the Sea Mission, Stevenson WA. Most of the music director's time will be spent between the two parishes, 15 minutes apart. The hymnal that we currently use is the 4th edition of the St. Michael Hymnal. We sing the entrance, offertory, and communion antiphons in Latin and wish to expand upon our sacred music repertoire and talent.
This is a full-time position. (30 hrs/week) The range for this position is $32,151 - $42,603 depending on experience and qualifications.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Office Operations and Support
• Collaborates with the Pastor, staff, and consultative bodies in
implementing the mission of the parish.
• Assures that appropriate and quality music is provided for all
Sunday and other major parish liturgies celebrations.
• Coordinates the development and implementation of a music
program for the parish. Implements the music program, makes
music selections, and schedules and oversees musicians in
collaboration with the pastoral leader, presider, and other staff as
appropriate.
• Directs the choir (s) of the parish and the school. Recruits, trains,
and supports parish ministers of music, including the
Cantor/leaders of song, and choral groups. Schedules practices
and assures that accompanists and music are available.
• Selects and develops participation aids for the assembly to
encourage full, active, and conscious participation through
singing.
• Serves as staff to the Liturgy or Worship Commission. Works with
the Chairperson to create agenda, attend meetings and complete
work as requested by the Commission and approved by the
supervisor.
• Provides assistance for parishioners needing music for weddings
and funerals. Develops and maintains resource list for organists,
soloists, and other musicians available to perform at these
functions.
• Prepares and administers the Music budget as delegated by the
pastoral leader.
• Ensures appropriate copyright permissions, use fees and licenses
have been obtained for all material used in the music program.
• Maintains a level of knowledge and skills required for the
ministry. This is accomplished by reading appropriate materials
and attending workshops and conventions. The Pastoral Assistant
for Music also participates in regional, Archdiocesan and National
Professional organizations, as approved and as appropriate.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Other Duties
• Participates in staff meetings, staff retreats, and attends
workshops for professional development.
• Collaborates with other CRC staff to ensure existing and
emerging tasks are completed in a timely manner.
• Completes other duties as assigned.
A Successful Candidate Will:
- Be a practicing Catholic.
- Demonstrate musical proficiency and experience in leading and
conducting instrumental and choral music groups.
- Offer all people kind, professional, and prompt service.
- Possess strong communication skills.
- Work well in a team environment across multiple campuses,
including interfacing well with people with irregular schedules.
• Possess a demonstrated history of work in Catholic music, and a
desire to implement sacred music.
• Possess at least a high school diploma. College degree preferred.
