About the Role:

The Vet Assistant at Saugus Animal Hospital plays a crucial role in supporting veterinarians and ensuring the well-being of animal patients. The Vet Assistant will be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized environment, managing supplies, and facilitating communication between pet owners and veterinary staff. Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience or formal training as a veterinary assistant or in animal care.
• Basic knowledge of animal handling and medical terminology.
• Ability to work in a physically demanding environment and handle animals safely.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification as a Veterinary Assistant (e.g., Approved Veterinary Assistant program).
• Experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal hospital setting.
• Familiarity with veterinary software and record-keeping systems.
• Knowledge of animal behavior and emergency care procedures.
• CPR and first aid certification for animals.

Responsibilities:

• Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, and surgeries by handling animals and preparing necessary equipment.
• Monitor and record vital signs and behavior of animals before, during, and after procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of treatment rooms, kennels, and surgical areas to ensure a safe environment.
• Manage inventory of medical supplies and restock as needed to support daily operations.
• Communicate effectively with pet owners to provide updates, instructions, and support regarding their pets’ care.
