About the Role:

As a Vet Assistant at the Animal Hospital of Putnam, you will play a crucial role in supporting veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing exceptional care to animals. Your primary focus will be assisting with the daily operations of the hospital, ensuring that all patients receive compassionate and efficient treatment. You will be responsible for preparing animals for examinations, assisting during procedures, and maintaining a clean and organized environment. Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience or formal training as a veterinary assistant or in animal care.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification as a Veterinary Assistant (e.g., Approved Veterinary Assistant program).

Responsibilities:

• Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations and medical procedures.

• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of examination rooms, surgical areas, and equipment.
• Monitor and record vital signs and behavior of animals under care.
• Communicate with pet owners to provide updates, instructions, and support regarding their pets' health.
• Manage inventory of medical supplies and ensure proper storage of medications.
• Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and maintaining patient records.
