This position is an entry-level surgery scheduling role primarily involving answering phone calls from families to schedule, reschedule, or cancel their child's surgery. The candidate will work out of the ENT Administrative Space and must be comfortable answering phone calls for the entire shift with excellent customer service and professional communication skills. Responsibilities include scheduling surgeries by coordinating with patients, physicians, and hospital staff; confirming patient eligibility by reviewing medical records and insurance; coordinating pre-operative testing and medical clearance; ensuring necessary equipment and supplies are available; communicating schedule changes; and maintaining accurate records of surgeries. Education required is a High School Diploma or equivalent. Two years of medical secretary experience is required, with surgical scheduling experience preferred. Skills needed include knowledge of filing, word processing, spreadsheets, medical terminology, coding, office skills, and excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Physical requirements include occasional lifting/carrying up to 10 lbs, standing, walking, and continuous use of speech, computer skills, decision making, neck movement, hand use, hearing, data interpretation, problem solving, repetitive hand/arm use, vision, and sitting.
