Job Description

A K-12 educational institution in Romney, WV is seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support effective communication for students with hearing impairments throughout the full semester contract.

Responsibilities:

• Provide clear and accurate sign language interpretation during classroom instruction, school events, and related activities
• Facilitate communication between students, teachers, staff, and families to ensure equitable access to educational content
• Collaborate with educators and support personnel to accommodate individual needs and optimize learning environments
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in interpreting services
• Participate in professional development opportunities as applicable

Qualifications & Experience:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with strong interpreting skills
• Experience working with K-12 students, preferably in educational settings
• Knowledge of educational terminology and classroom practices
• Ability to adapt interpreting style to various learning environments and diverse audiences
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Relevant certification or credential in Sign Language Interpretation is preferred
