Job Description

A contract position is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support high school students in the Hampshire, IL area and surrounding communities, including Belvidere. This in-person role runs from August 4, 2025, through June 6, 2026, with a weekly schedule aligned to the school calendar, averaging 32.5 to 35 hours.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide clear and effective sign language interpretation to facilitate communication between students, staff, and instructors.
• Ensure that students with hearing impairments have equal access to educational content and social interactions.
• Collaborate closely with educators, counselors, and families to support student success.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow all school policies and ethical guidelines.

Qualifications:

• Must hold ISBE approval as a Sign Language Interpreter or have an EIPA score of 3.0 or higher to qualify for temporary approval.
• Proven experience interpreting in educational settings is preferred.
• Excellent knowledge of American Sign Language and deaf culture.
• Ability to work in-person within the Hampshire High School and surrounding areas.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Location:This role is based at Hampshire High School with service provided to nearby areas including Belvidere, IL.
