About the Role:

Looking to hire a Senior - Level Safety Manager to oversee and run a successful Safety Program involved with Construction & Major Capex Projects for Industrial Facilities. Need someone experience overseeing various skilled trades on project sites: Millwrights, Electricians, Pipefitters, Welders, Industrial Maintenance, etc. This is a Travel Heavy position, traveling within Michigan and Indiana heavily, but also across Midwest... 50% or more travel, some overnight.

Direct Hire Position

Salaried Role (Based on Education/Experience) + Annual Bonus

Travel is compensated - Some overnight Travel (50%+ Travel Required)

The Senior Safety Manager will oversee all aspects of safety management, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation strategies. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of safety protocols, strong leadership skills, and a record of accomplishment of promoting a culture of safety excellence.

Essential Functions:

• Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, industry standards, and company guidelines.
• Lead and mentor a team of safety professionals, including safety managers, coordinators, and specialists, to achieve safety objectives and promote continuous improvement.
• (Oversee) Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and assessments of work sites, equipment, and processes to identify hazards, assess risks, and implement corrective actions.
• Provide strategic direction and oversight for safety training and education initiatives, including developing training materials, conducting training sessions, and evaluating training effectiveness.
• Oversee the Investigations of accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes, analyze trends, and develop preventive measures to reduce recurrence.
• Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and other stakeholders to integrate safety measures into project planning, design, and execution.
• Lead emergency response and crisis management efforts, including developing and implementing emergency response plans, conducting drills, and coordinating with external agencies as needed.
• Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in safety management to drive continuous improvement and innovation.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field (Master's degree/MBA preferred).
• Proven experience in senior safety leadership roles, preferably in the skilled trades or construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety standards (e.g., NFPA, ANSI), and industry best practices.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage diverse stakeholders.
• Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing safety programs, conducting risk assessments, and managing safety performance metrics.
• Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., CSP, CIH, OHST) is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in safety management software, MS Office Suite, and other relevant tools.
