About NRHA Founded in 1940, the Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority (NRHA) provides low-income families in Norfolk, Virginia with safe and well-maintained housing. It also plans and administers large-scale residential redevelopment programs within Norfolk.

NRHA is an award-winning public housing authority that has been effective in obtaining private investment partners to fund new neighborhoods; improving low-income public housing; planning and building mixed-income communities; and offering programs that support residents receiving rental assistance on their path to self-sufficiency.

NRHA is seeking a qualified candidate for the Real Estate Intern position.

Summary

The intern will assist the Housing Development Project Manager with tasks related to NRHA’s ongoing development projects. The intern will gain valuable hands-on experience in housing development, community planning, and project management. Specific duties include:

  • Using ArcGIS StoryMaps to upload and maintain project data, maps, and multimedia.
  • Assisting with project tracking and task management through MS Project , Teams , and Planner .
  • Supporting community outreach and stakeholder engagement efforts.
  • Assisting in the preparation of project timelines and feasibility analysis.

Part-time, with flexible hours to accommodate academic commitments

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Have familiarity or a strong interest in learning ArcGIS StoryMaps, Microsoft Project, Teams, and Planner.
  • Possess organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Can work collaboratively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Can research and learn quickly on the job, applying new knowledge to various aspects of the development projects.

Education, Experience, and Licenses

  • Are at least in their third year of undergraduate study or are graduate students, preferably studying architecture, urban planning, real estate, computer science, construction management, civil engineering, or a related field.

Physical Demands/Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the intern is frequently required to sit, talk, see, or hear. The intern is occasionally required to stand and walk. The intern must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Job requires depth, color, and texture perception
