The Position

Title: Outside Sales Representative

Location: Atlanta, Georgia United States

Reporting To: Sales Manager or Market President

Overview:

We are looking for a driven, profit-focused Outside Sales Representative to join our team. This role is critical to driving profitable sales growth, representing PCS in a professional, credible manner, and clearly communicating the value-added services we bring to the table. Your mission: earn a 60%+ share of wallet by being a true resource to our customers—not a used car order taker. This is the tip-of-the-spear role for our business. You’ll lead from the front, build deep customer relationships, and deliver solutions that improve both our business, and theirs. We’re not interested in order takers—we want professionals who know how to create value, compete with urgency, and follow through. For those who perform, the earning potential is uncapped. Deliverable Outcomes:

1. Client Engagement: Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing clients while actively seeking new business opportunities within the commercial, industrial, DOT, erosion control and residential sectors.

2. Sales Strategy Execution: Implement effective sales strategies to meet and exceed sales targets, aligning with company objectives and market demands.

3. Achieve Targets: Consistently achieve agreed-upon sales, profit, and product mix targets, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

4. Grow Profitability: Drive annual growth in profit dollars exceeding market trends, ensuring sustainable and consistent profitability.

5. Share of Wallet: Strategically target and achieve a 60% share of wallet from assigned customers, leveraging our extensive product portfolio and service offerings.

6. Distributor of Choice: Position yourself and the company as the distributor of choice by delivering exceptional service, offering solutions tailored to customer needs, and maintaining a proactive, customer-focused approach.

7. Product Expertise: Maintain comprehensive knowledge of our extensive product line, including fasteners, tools, safety equipment, and more, to provide tailored solutions to clients.

8. Market Analysis: Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to identify opportunities for growth and areas for improvement.

Specific Responsibilities

Outside Sales Representative responsibilities will include:

1. Deliver profit dollar growth of 8-10% annually, at a minimum, and gross margin growth of 100 300bps annually.

2. Train, develop, and coach inside sales associates in effective selling processes and techniques.

3. Determine targeted customer account potential, help establish sales goals for those accounts, and achieve them.

4. Achieve upper quartile performance in these key indicators – Revenue Growth, Gross Profit/Margin, and Categories sold.

5. Lead development and implementation of product sales strategies for the assigned market by working with the Sales Support team to effectively sell the entire scope of a project.

6. Provide a creative, simple approach to commercializing the value of PCS’s products and services to all customer segments.

7. Share market and competitor information with other leaders within the organization.

8. Provide thought leadership to the other leaders to continuously improve the organization.

9. Conduct all business in accordance with Company policy and procedures.

The Person

Qualifications & Experience:

The successful candidate must have the following experiences and capabilities:

1. Experience managing the creation and execution of a wide variety of sales strategies across traditional and non-traditional sales channels.

2. Experience managing internal sales teams, as well as outside vendor relationships.

3. Excellent communication skills, including presentation, writing and grammar skills.

4. Ability to work effectively across a complex, regional organization, and deliver consistent results.

5. A great sense of humor.

6. Well organized and process oriented, with creative approach to problem solving.

7. Ability to translate complex information into intuitive, easy-to-digest informational snippets.

8. Manage business relationships using combination of data driven analysis, strategic thinking, networking, and strong interpersonal skills.

9. Industry experience in building products, concrete/masonry/construction equipment/erosion control required. Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, communications, or related major desired, but not required.
