Are you passionate about marketing and eager to gain hands-on experience in a vibrant museum environment? We are excited to offer an unpaid internship that provides a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of marketing and cultural heritage.

The Marketing and Communications intern is an active, supporting member of the Speed Art Museum's Communications and Marketing team. Primary responsibilities will include email marketing support, project management, and research. Secondary responsibilities may include writing and editing; analytics review and reporting (website, social, email); cross-channel content development; and representing the Speed at various events as needed.

FLSA Status: Part-Time, 24 hours per week/3 days a week

Duration: 12 weeks

Requirements:

This is NOT a graphic design internship

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Attend in-person and virtual meetings with internal Museum employees and external partners/vendors.
  • Attending events as needed (exhibition openings, tabling events, media visits, etc.)
  • Administrative tasks as needed (mailings, distribution of materials, inventory of materials, in-house printing, etc.)
  • Learn the basics of the Museum's operation.

Qualifications:

Excellent organizational and project management skills; writing and communication skills; comfortable using MS Office products (namely Outlook, Word); general familiarity with social media platforms; interest in marketing and communications; ability to research projects with minimal oversight. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is comfortable interfacing with multiple contacts and able to strategize and problem-solve. Some academic experience in marketing, communications, journalism, or fine arts is preferred.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Ability to complete the following tasks with/without reasonable accommodations so the requirements of this position can be fully met:

  • Telephone and computer throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position periodically during the shift.
  • Ability to access materials, supplies, etc., intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Communicates using the English language.
  • Sees and hears or uses prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
  • May need to move equipment, supplies, etc., of up to twenty-five (25) pounds occasionally.
