Overview The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Landscape Gardener in the Parks, Recreation and Waterfront Department. The current vacancy is in the Urban Forestry Unit and will staff the tree planting and young tree care team. The City of Berkeley plants, waters, and establishes up to 1,000 trees each year. This recruitment will also create an eligibility list that may be used to staff the Landscape Maintenance Unit. Responsibilities Support the Urban Forestry Unit with tree planting and young tree care. Participate in maintaining landscapes as described for the Landscape Gardener role. Qualifications Equivalent to graduation from high school and two years experience in landscape maintenance work, similar to that described in the job classification. Possession of an AA degree in horticulture or a closely related field may be substituted for the required experience. Other Requirements Must possess a valid California driver\'s license and have a satisfactory driving record. Must possess sufficient strength and stamina to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds; must be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
