Job Summary:

The Kitchen Lead oversees daily kitchen operations within our food manufacturing facility, ensuring efficient production, compliance with food safety standards, and coordination with other departments. This role is hands-on and requires leadership, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise kitchen staff, including line cooks and prep personnel, ensuring compliance with production schedules.
  • Monitor all kitchen operations for food safety, quality assurance, and cleanliness (including GMP and HACCP compliance).
  • Execute batch cooking and recipe preparation according to company specifications and standards.
  • Manage ingredient inventory, prep schedules, and coordinate with purchasing/warehouse to ensure materials are available.
  • Train and mentor kitchen staff on standard operating procedures and safe handling practices.
  • Monitor and document critical control points and quality metrics.
  • Communicate with Production and QA teams to resolve issues or improve processes.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen equipment and workspaces.
  • Support and enforce health and safety policies.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in a commercial kitchen, preferably within a food manufacturing or large-scale production environment.
  • 1+ year of supervisory or lead experience.
  • Strong understanding of food safety regulations (GMP, HACCP, or FSMA preferred).
  • Ability to read and follow detailed recipes and batch sheets.
  • Comfortable working in hot, cold, and fast-paced environments.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
