IT Physician Liaison

POSITION SUMMARY

• This position facilitates and promotes the use of information technology by management, physicians, nurses, ancillary clinicians, and office staff, with an emphasis on the medical community. Responsible for the planning, implementation, training, support, and ongoing optimization of specific applications which may include: McKesson Paragon, Webstation for Physicians, Practice Partner, associated system interfaces, report writing software, and others as designated.

OVERVIEW

• The evaluation is to assure individual performance, departmental goals and organizational goals are aligned. It is designed to support communication between the manager and the employee. Employee perception of their own performance is very important. To maximize the benefit of this process, both the manager and the employee participate in the evaluation process.

B. Education

• Bachelor’s degree in information systems preferred

• Or, Associate Degree with certification in clinical field

C. Licensure

D. Experience

• Experience implementing and/or supporting hospital clinical or physician office applications such as Athena Health, Altera Paragon, OneContent

• Healthcare information systems experience preferred

E. Interpersonal skills

• Strong class presentation, facilitation, and management.

• Experience teaching or coaching in a professional environment.

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

• Develops, coordinates, conducts, maintains, and deliver presentations regarding computer technology and software.

• Establishes and maintains rapport with the medical community in order to establish their comfort level with new and existing systems usage and in order to address their information technology needs and understanding to the fullest extent possible.

• Assists in development of policies, procedures, and training materials for applications.

• Participates in one-on-one and group meetings/training sessions with physicians and other end users to promote and optimize the use of information technology for increasing the efficiency, efficacy, and safety of healthcare within the organization.

• Assesses and reaches timely resolutions of user issues regarding implementation and application support.

• Works with users, fellow IT staff members, the CIO, the Nursing Systems Manager, and software vendors to research, document and correct errors which may occur in the users' operating procedures, applications, or operating systems.

• Documents applications and projects to include the following formats: operational, procedural, end-user.

• Develops testing standards and conducts testing of applications, changes to existing applications, new and up-coming applications, at the following levels: system, functional, unit.

• Interacts with patients, physicians, employees, and visitors in a friendly and cordial manner, in person or on the telephone, thus promoting a positive image for Hospital.

• Performs other duties as assigned.
