Now Hiring: Emergency Management Coordinator
Location: Las Vegas, New Mexico
The Staff Pad is partnering with a hospital in Las Vegas, New Mexico to hire an Emergency Management Coordinator .
This part-time position is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining emergency preparedness plans and procedures. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, be familiar with FEMA/NIMS incident command structures, and possess a background in emergency or healthcare management.
Emergency Planning:
Develop and maintain comprehensive emergency preparedness plans, including evacuation procedures, resource allocation strategies, and communication protocols
Conduct hazard vulnerability assessments and prioritize mitigation strategies
Implement emergency response training programs for hospital staff
Incident Management:
Coordinate the hospital's response during emergencies such as natural disasters, active shooter events, or public health crises
Activate emergency response teams and manage resource distribution
Maintain effective communication with external emergency agencies
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local emergency preparedness regulations
Conduct regular audits and inspections to address compliance issues
Risk Assessment:
Monitor emerging threats and evaluate their potential impact on hospital operations
Conduct and update risk assessments regularly
Emergency Exercise Planning and Execution:
Develop and execute drills to test emergency response plans
Analyze outcomes and implement improvements
Additional Duties:
Lead and evaluate programs in alignment with public health and nonprofit frameworks
Manage budgets and financial planning related to emergency preparedness
Write and secure grants as needed
Oversee volunteers and engage effectively with stakeholders
Bachelor's degree in emergency management, public health, or a Registered Nurse with 5+ years of relevant experience
Preferred: Experience as a first responder or in a similar role
Certification in Emergency Management (CEM) preferred
Knowledge of FEMA / NIMS incident command structures
Required: Completion of NIMS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, and 800 within the first year of employment
Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
Ability to perform under pressure and make decisions in high-stress environments
Healthcare or emergency management experience preferred
