Trinity in Washington, a comprehensive Catholic university in the nation’s capital, seeks a Director of Campus Ministry to plan and implement programs supporting the faith life and spiritual development of students, faculty, and staff in this religiously diverse community. Founded in 1897 by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, Trinity emphasizes women’s education and leadership, providing a broad range of educational opportunities for all genders at undergraduate and graduate levels. With about 2000 students enrolled in 2025, Trinity is classified as both a Predominantly Black and Hispanic Serving Institution; 50% of students are DC residents, 70% are Pell Grantees, and many are undocumented.
Reporting to the Vice President for Student Affairs, the Campus Minister will develop opportunities for faith education, prayer, and worship, including Catholic liturgies, ecumenical, and interfaith services. Responsibilities include collaborating with local priests (notably the Paulists) for campus Masses and services, coordinating Trinity’s Gospel Choir with local musicians, and organizing community service programs that reflect Trinity’s commitment to social justice.
Candidates must demonstrate the ability to organize and implement diverse ministry programs for a faith-diverse community; have experience leading prayer, worship, retreats, and community service initiatives; possess knowledge of Catholic liturgical practices and the ability to plan Catholic liturgies; and foster community connections for service learning, potentially linked to academic curricula.
The Director oversees two campus chapels, coordinating sacristans and managing special events held there.
Applicants must be Catholic and capable of developing a ministry that serves the diverse faiths of Trinity’s community. A master’s degree in ministry or a related field and at least five years of relevant experience in college or similar ministry settings are required. Sisters of Notre Dame with appropriate credentials are encouraged to apply.
Trinity offers comprehensive benefits including Health, Dental & Vision insurance, employer-paid Life and Disability benefits, a 403(b) retirement plan with up to 6% employer match, Paid Family Leave, Trinity Center membership (including pool, walking track, gym equipment), free campus parking, and shuttle service to Brookland Metro station.
