JOB SUMMARY Under general supervision of the Public Works Director, this position is responsible for managing the engineering department in the development and implementation of Public Works projects and the stewardship of City infrastructure working towards a sustainable future. This position supervises members of staff in the engineering division.
QUALIFICATIONS Required - Graduation from college with a degree in civil engineering, construction management, business or closely related field
- Minimum of 8 years of experience as a practicing manager in an engineering field
- Valid Washington State Driver's license and ability to maintain a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier
Preferred - Preferred Master of Science Degree in a related field
- 8+ years of experience in a management and/or supervisory role
- Work experience in municipal engineering or consulting engineering for governmental clients
WORKING CONDITIONS This position requires being in the office the majority of the time with occasional work outdoors during all types of weather; office work will require working at a desk for extended periods of time behind a computer and attending meetings; occasional in-person night meetings will be required; outdoor work may include field investigations, inspection, and observation of construction; vision and hearing at level required to perform essential functions (may be corrected); and a full range of motor skills.
