JOB OVERVIEW
Jimerson Birr is seeking a Contract Collections Attorney to support our high-volume collections practice throughout Florida. The attorney will handle litigation matters from filing through judgment and enforcement, ensuring cases are processed efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with applicable laws.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage consumer and commercial debt collection cases across Florida.
• Draft, review, and approve pleadings and motions.
• Represent clients at hearings, trials, and other court proceedings (in person and via Zoom) by request. 
• Oversee complaint filings, service of process, defaults, and judgment enforcement.
• Handle contested matters, including discovery, motion practice, and settlement negotiations as needed. 
• Conduct post-judgment remedies such as garnishments, depositions in aid of execution, and asset recovery.
• Ensure compliance with FDCPA and other consumer protection regulations.
• Provide guidance to paralegals on escalated matters and support process improvements.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active membership in the Florida Bar required.
• 2–3 years of experience in collections litigation preferred.
• Courtroom experience with hearings and trials.
• Ability to manage a high-volume caseload with attention to detail.
• Strong advocacy, organizational, and process-driven skills.
• Strong preference given to candidates who currently reside in Florida or Georgia.
