We are seeking a Compositor who embodies the innovative spirit, creative talent, production excellence, collaborative mindset, and passion for filmmaking that define ILM. Compositors integrate live action and computer-generated elements into visual effects shots, aligning with the creative vision and direction of the client and Visual Effects Supervisor. They are responsible for maintaining the aesthetic integrity and technical quality of the final images delivered to clients. What You’ll Do Work with the Compositing Supervisor and VFX Supervisor to evaluate creative and technical approaches for assigned shots Perform tasks related to compositing, including 2D tracking, matte extraction, layering, and color grading for moderately to highly complex shots Maintain the overall look, color balance, and quality across shots and sequences to ensure visual consistency Collaborate effectively with artists from other disciplines What We’re Looking For 3+ years of professional VFX experience and a college diploma in computer graphics, fine arts, design, photography, or related field; or 5+ years of VFX experience without a formal degree Strong proficiency in Nuke Excellent aesthetic judgment regarding photorealism and color Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Strong sense of composition, color, and design Fundamental skills in photography and photographic lighting are a plus Nice to have: familiarity with Unix systems, ability to write Nuke gizmos or plugins, experience with Python and C++ The salary range for this position in San Francisco, CA is $101,300 to $132,900 annually. Actual offers will consider internal equity, geographic location, and candidate experience and skills. Compensation may include bonuses, incentives, and comprehensive benefits.
