Nuclear Workers Institute of America (NWIA) is a group of experienced Advocates, Authorized Representatives and medical professionals representing former and current workers in filing a claim under the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA). The NWIA Client Service Advocate will offer staff support in filing claims associated with this program. This is an entry level position with opportunity for growth within the company.

Candidates should have an upbeat attitude and be a helpful and positive presence in the workplace. They should be able to assist co-workers, clients, and company visitors by providing polite and professional assistance personally or via phone, mail, and e-mail. Duties are varied and can include medical record review, filling out paperwork, entering client information into the computer, mailing claims, and interacting with other departments and government agencies. NWIA Client Service Advocate must display a strong commitment to the company’s vision and strive to promote a positive image within the community. They may participate in community events as needed.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist with general information as it relates to benefits. Display proficient knowledge of the EEOICPA and related programs. Become familiar with program policies and procedures and keep abreast of all regulatory changes.
  • Meet with clients and assist with paperwork.
  • Solve problems and assist co-workers and managers with administrative support.
  • Assist with medical record review, basic research, and data collection.
  • Provide accurate, timely, up-to-date documentation/notes.
  • Demonstrate complete understanding of HIPPA laws and regulations. Practice complete discretion at work and while in the community.
  • Participate in training and education as it relates to your position. Be knowledgeable of company policies and procedures
  • Effectively communicate with fellow employees, government agencies and service providers.
  • Participate in community events, educational lunches and public relations that promote the company
  • Treat current and prospective company clients and families with absolute customer service and compassion with friendly service, and the utmost professionalism.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and exhibit appropriate behaviors expected to maintain and promote a cohesive work environment.

Education, Training, and Skill Recommendations/Requirements:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Six months customer service or related experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of medical terminology, major disease processes and diagnoses.
  • Excellent phone, computer, and internet skills.
  • Excellent writing, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team, multi-task, and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Must be professional, courteous, compassionate, and customer oriented.
  • Must be discrete, trustworthy, and possess a high level of integrity.
  • Ability to travel locally.
  • Valid state driver's license and insurance required.
