Biometric (Fingerprinting) Technician – On Call Opportunity to work with the United States Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS) to support the nation’s lawful immigration system in Baltimore, MD. Hourly rate: $19.10 (hourly rate set by Service Contract Act/union position). Hours are on an as‑needed basis; a steady income stream cannot be guaranteed. Employees must be available Monday‑Friday 7:45 am–4:15 pm for substitute coverage. This position is regulated by the Department of Labor as a Service Contract Act (SCA) contract. Job Overview As a Biometric Technician (BT), you will support USCIS’s Application Support Center (ASC) operations. Amentum provides all required training. The role is an on‑call casual team member; hours are not guaranteed. Primary Responsibilities Complete biometrics registration for applicants seeking lawful immigration to the United States. Ensure all entrants to the ASC are approved applicants and visitors, provide interior and exterior crowd control, and assist staff in enforcing ASC rules and policies. Provide front‑line customer service on behalf of Amentum and the U.S. Government. Key Duties Perform quality biometrics processing, including capturing electronic fingerprints, photographs, and signatures within established time frames. Screen applicants to verify valid appointment notices and identification. Use crowd‑control barriers to ensure a safe and organized entry. Visually inspect applicants and belongings before entry; assess health status during pandemics and refuse entry if required. Conduct periodic interior and exterior facility checks and report concerns to the Site Supervisor. Assist the Site Supervisor and/or Government Immigration Service Officer in contacting local law enforcement or first responders as needed. Manage and complete accurate administrative paperwork, including processing time tracking, biometrics reconciliation, visitor control logs, and facility check sign‑offs. Required Qualifications US citizenship; ability to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. High School Diploma or equivalent. Proficient in spoken and written English. Physical ability to stand upright for the scheduled shift, excluding meals and breaks. Ability to hold and grasp applicants’ hands for quality fingerprints. Capacity to work in a high‑paced public environment. Basic computer typing and skills. Successful completion of biometrics training and certification within sixty days.
